She didn't just share our home, she made it one.
Peanut found us in 2010, a little feral survivor who had already been through more than most. We opened our home to her, and she never forgot it.
She loved our other cats instantly, following our black cat around like she was the most important creature in the world. As the years passed and the others were gone, Peanut just loved us harder. She became our constant, our shadow, our girl.
She had a little wiggle to her walk from an old injury, and we loved every bit of it. Peanut was resilient in a way that amazed us. She had more than nine lives. There were many times we thought we were going to lose her, and she always found a way to come back to us. This time, she was tired. She had fought so hard for so long, and when the time came, we made sure she was surrounded by everything she loved. She spent her last days at home, peaceful and happy, right where she belonged. She left us gently, in the place she felt safest, with us right beside her.
Peanut was never just a pet. She was family in every sense of the word. Everything we did, she was part of. Every day revolved around her, and we would not have had it any other way. We kept her safe, we met her every need, and she gave us back something we did not even know we needed. She was our emotional support, our comfort on hard days, and the quiet steady presence that made our house a home. She was the rock of this family, and the love she gave us was unconditional and endless.
Eighteen years went fast. We are so grateful for every single one of them, and we will miss her more than words can say.
Rest easy, sweet girl. You were so loved.
Until one has loved an animal, a part of one\'s soul remains unawakened.
